I've been away from this forum for about 3 months now. In late July I bought an '07 EG Classic. I had just put 1000 miles on it and took it for a nice ride the day before I was to take it in for the 1000 mile service. Well I was cruising in the country and came around a 45 mph corner and I saw a 2'X3' patch of fine gravel on the roadway. I'm not sure what happened next. I remember seeing the 4X4 sign post that I was heading for and then nothing until they put me in the trauma helicopter. I was in intensive care for 4 days and 3 day in the general ward. I had 5 ribs broken in 8 places, a banged up spleen and kidney, collapsed/punctured lung, left ankle was 6" in diameter and black. The bike was totaled out. I just got back to work a week ago. I was out for 11 weeks. I slept in my Lay-Z-Boy for 8 weeks. Now I'm sleeping on an air mattress.

Oh yeah, I went looking for another bike today. Got my eye on a 2004 Road King Classic. Unfortunately, it's almost winter.

Glad to hear you're on your way back to riding again. At 19 (1970), I totalled out my bike, lost my right knee cap, 11 weeks in the hospital (while I was in the Navy). First time I was out of the hospital for a few hours of leave, I rode back on another bike. They chewed me out pretty good, but I survived, and so will you. Hang in there. George

 

From the looks of your bike, your fortunate to be here -- it wasn't your time. Glad you made it okay. Bet your parts probably feel a little more "rusty" than before. Good luck with your new ride

 

Sorry to hear about your accident but glad you still with us and ok and thats the important thing!

 

So does the radio still work ? [sm=joke.gif] Glad to hear your on the mend and ready to ride again. Bikes can be replaced ..... but you can`t ! Take it eazy .

 

Here in illinois im constantly dodging old tires,mufflers,dead dogs and a host of other crap.Its great you made it,you can always get another bike,GOOD LUCK your like a cat ya got 8 more lifes after that id watch it,just joking hope your up and ready to ride soonglad your still with us

 

Why not a new bike again, doesn't your insurance take care of it. Glad you still want to ride and most of all still with us.

Glad your doing ok. I totalled my EG Standard last year with 2000 miles on it [:@] Some idiot cut me off. Totalled the car too! Broke my back and scraped top of head off on utility pole. Got back on with a new bike, and now I watch every friggin thing around me.

Oh yeah.....always wear my HELMET now !!!!!

 

Laid my RK down on a highway by Giant Stadium about 2 months ago. A car was stopped in the middle lane for absolutely no reason at night, right over a hillcrest. Had nowhere to go. I faired much better than you. About 2k to he bike, a broken rib, tons of black and blues, and a bruised ego. Glad your here to tell us about it and hope you continue to mend.
