A lot of those guys are paid a flat rate and the more repairs they can push through the more they make. It is only human nature to take short cuts to increase profits. Plus, I am sure the dealerships put pressure on those guys to turn things around quicker so the dealerships increase their profits as well.

Buy the manual, look at youtube and get "Fix my Hog" DVD, it really helps

Depends on the tech and dealership.
The time i brought my '06 in for the 1K,they did not.Found loose fastners,the + battery cover misplaced.
That service was $390.Took it back and complained,got a $50 gift card.
After that I did my own services and saved a lot of money.
