Ditto on using Pledge. In fact, Pledge is just plain great for the entire bike. I've used Hondaline spray cleaner for years but Pledge works much better and it's lots cheaper. I use Lemon Pledge, along with cloth diapers I got at Wal-Mart and finish up with microfiber towels. In fact, now that I've started using Pledge I doubt I will do much washing of the bike using a bucket and rag. The Pledge route is just so much faster and better. Plus, you don't have to worry about water spots on everything.
Bonus tip...get a pack of the Pledge wipes and keep them and a microfiber towel in your saddlebag. They are great for quick cleanups...especially the windshield and fairing. They really get the bugs off. You get 18 in a pack for less than 3 bucks. That's a lot of cleaning while on the road.

My former father-in-law showed my this trick for windshields. Works great every time and no scratches.
