Default Slip-Ons with NO other Mods

My bike: 2011 FLHX stock as far as exhaust, air filter, and computer goes.

I'd like "more sound", so I want to put on a set of Slip-Ons.
I checked Bubs, and spoke with a tech guy there who said to be careful, that they expect people to do a full Stage 1 updgrade when they add slip-ons. If not, the bike leans out (more than it comes stock), and it can get REALLY hot.

Anyway, what I REALLY like are the Rinehart 4" slip-ons. The Rinehart web site specifically says, "**Do not adjust stock ECU settings with Rinehart slip-ons on 2009-2011 H-D Touring models with stock head pipes.".
I called Rinehart and their tech guy said those mufflers are designed to be used with the stock air filter and stock computer settings. Just put'em on and ride.

OK, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them, and what happened.

Thanks!

I changed stock slip-ons with V&H Street Sweepers - i get the decel pop and periodic backfire on a 2007 FLHR. Gonna complete the stage 1 some day!!

I put 4" CVO slip on's on my 2011 SG 103. A bit more volume, a lot more volume when on the gas, and a lower rumble. Only had it decel pop twice in a month. Wife notices lots of heat from the mufflers rising up, but engine is running just fine.

I have the 4 inch Rhineharts on mine and it runs good. I did add some Vieds to richen it up a little but it ran good before I added them.

Having gone back and forth between two different aftermarket slip-ons and the stockers, I can say that the bike will run fine with no adjustments, however the bike will run better by optimizing the map for the mufflers.

Your bike will be fine with just about every after market "slip on" muffler. This doesn't apply to head pipes...just the muffs.

Ride On.

I was in the same situation as you...I have a 2011 Limited, even my wife said it didnt sound like a Harley...So first I went to my dealer, they tried to sell me an entire "True-Dual" set-up (quoted me $2500.00), I said I just wanted it to sound like a Harley not a Honda...They tried to tell me if I just installed slip-ons it wouldn't be much louder than stock, and I'd probably end up getting the TD's down the road anyway...I decided to hold off on the TD's(until down the road, LOL), went home and ordered the 4" Rinehart Slip-ons...I just installed them the other day (still stock air-filter/cat/etc...) Wow, to me it now sounds like it should! Nice deep rumble, no popping on decel, and I'm one happy camper! (Even my wife said..and I quote..."Well it sure doesn't sound like a F*ing Honda now"!!!) I will probably end up doing the stage 1, and a re-flash sometime down the road, and maybe even go to the TD's, but for now I'm just gonna leave well enough alone....I also have to add that Rinehart is a great company to deal with...I had ordered the 3.5's by mistake, and called them the next day, they switched my order to the Blacked out 4" pipes, and they arrived 3 days later! YMMV....

My observation on my 2010 Ultra, slip ons give the sound your after and will usually run fine without any tunes. The warmer the outside temp the more decel pop. I did the stage 1 and tuner for rider comfort on the heat issue. Ride safe and enjoy.

This statement is tried and true for me.
