Default Ipb

This really concerns me. I had a 2006 Dyna that I had a lot of problems with the IPB. 2006 was the first year of the 6 speed, and Harley in their ultimate wisdom did not put alignment dowels between the inner primary and trans. Do a search, and you'll find my whole story on this forum. It went out on me a few times. Bottomline, HD finally changed my inner primary case and trans case to the newer ones with alignment dowels. I certainly hope by now they have propagated this change thru all their models.

At 12k miles my inner primary bearing went out. I started to hear a noise when the bike was in neutral with the clutch out. Pulled the clutch in and after a second or two the noise would stop. In a short time I could hear the noise in first and second while riding.

Bikes at the dealer now waiting on a new bearing and race.

Guys,
I just installed 120R in my 08' Streetglide. Getting ready to install inner primary, but was wandering is there any upgrades for the inner primary bearing and seal for the 6-spd trans. I don't think I can go to the sealed bearing and remove bearing race because of a clearance issue. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There is no bearing upgrade I have been able to find for 07 and up but there is for the 06 and down. Sure wish Baker or somebody would make one they would sell like cold beer at a biker bar.

JEEZ! I HATE reading about this stuff! With almost 19K no-problem miles I am wondering if I either got a "good" one or just dont know what to listen/look for on my 2010 StreetGlide. Its like riding a ticking time bomb. Maybe I will just jack up the rear wheel and ride it in the garage in front of my big screen and watch videos that I made of past trips. I am becoming paranoid.

Ok, seriously, when will I know or how will I know when this thing is gonna grenade (the IPB)?
What the heck is it anyway, I am not a mechanic.

thanks!

I feel your pain, I am planning a 5K mile trip next month and my bike is pushing 50K miles. It still has the stock comp. and original IPB.
