Road King vs Street Glide
#21
My wife just bought a new Road King Classic three weeks ago and she loves it. She had been riding an '09 Sportster 1200 Custom and she really enjoys the nicer ride.
The first thing we did was change out the seat and the windshield. She is 5' 7", so she wanted to be moved forward and down a little. We got her a C&C Forward Solo Seat (with a backrest), which worked perfectly. We also got a shorter windshield with a recurve at the top from Long Ride Shields, and that works great as her line of sight is just over the top.
I have a SG myself, and my wife tried that out before going with the Road King Classic. She preferred the softer ride of the RKC and the styling.
You really can't go wrong either way.

I went to the dealership and test-rode a new Road King, Street Glide and Road Glide. I also rode a 2009 Electra Glide Standard that was a trade-in.
There were things that I liked and disliked about each of them, but the Street Glide, out-of-the-box, was the best fit and feel for me. The "dislikes" are easily corrected in the parts & accessories department.
Yesterday, I rode my new 2011 Street Glide home from the dealership - about 15 miles or so. Wow! I made the right choice.

It really does come down to what you like. I have a RK and just got back from a 7 day moutian tour in CO. Had my detachable fairing on and the tunes were sure nice riding accross the prairies. But when I got home I couldn't wait to rip it off and put my windshield back on. Just feels so much more open, less closed in. Different strokes.
