Default Audio Upgrade fro Street Glide

Looking to purchase the Hawg Wired 6 pack system, but may want to upgrade the head unit as well. Anyone know who is selling a good head unit and kit without the speakers. I know biktronics sells the package with speakers. If I buy the 6 pack I wont need the speakers. Looking for a head unit that I can use handlebar controls and Ipod interface

Go to crutchfield.com and find any major brand head unit.

Buy the Hawg Wired install kit.

Rock out.

I bought the Alpine CDA-105. It has a rear locking USB output and apple software to control an ipod. 200.00 street price. And my installer was able to use an adaptor to make the handlebar controls work, I think that was another 30.00.

You definitely want to upgrade the head unit to something with a better preamp section (not to mention pre outs) than the HK. Garbage in, garbage out.........

What adaptor did you use to make the handlebar controls work?

Ya, I was wondering why they called it a 6 pack at first. I assume because it comes with their new 6.5" speakers. I'm waiting for UPS to arrive with my box from HW any minute now. I almost with this setup but opted for the 4 channel amp and speaker lids with 6x9's. I can't decide on the deck but am thinking of one of the Sony digital media receivers where I can store the ipod inside the head unit. But not sure yet.

I have actually been thinking about the lids as well. Did HW sell them or did you get them else where? Are they painted or do you have to paint them?
