Default Love my new RKC, But....

I've noticed this since it was new (2 months). Occasionally, when I shut the bike down (don't use the Run switch on bars), it kind of clanks/rattles/knocks. It's noticable. Neither of my previous scoots (Softails) ever made noises like this when I shut them down. My wife even commented on it. Is this one of those "it's normal" things, or should I be concerned? Thanks for any feedback.

I've had 2 Road Kings, an '06 and '10 (FLHR's), and now I have a '10 Street Glide and have never heard anything like you're describing on a shut down. Matter of fact all 3 motorcycles have been very quick to shut down - quietly.

My RKC has never made noises like that. Might be something of concern. I would definitely have it looked at. Good luck. Love to know what it was when/if you find out.

Maybe preignition? Try a different gas vendor and make sure to use the highest grade available.

Thanks all for input. I always use 93 octane, and usually Shell/Mobile/BP. Never discount or Costco. I wondered if it were the fuel, too, but it does not matter who I fill up with. I think I'm taking it in to have checked. Will report back if I find anything.

Update: talked with Stealer Dis-service and they indicated sounded like a Compensator issue. They even offered to come pick up the bike; clearly didn't want me to drive in. After they check it out, I'll come back with a final report. And I thought the compensator issues were behind us, FLHRC 103 supposed to have new SE comp. in it. Oh well...

Mine sneezes through the air cleaner most of the time when I hit the kill switch, but never any mechanical clunks/rattles/bangs. Sounds like a problem.

Same here, had my 2011 RKC 2+ weeks and no shut down issues here. Haven't had the fast idle issue my 2009 SG had, either. Love that!

Try 91 octane.
