Had the same feeling you did on my SG. Cool bike, but felt oafy, and wasn't as excited about riding as i was when I had my RK 5 years ago. Just went back to the king and my smile grew. Didn't doubt my decision for a second.

take [under 200 miles]. Over 200 and Long Tour Trips, then the Glide gets the nod.......

Congrats on the new King!

I really enjoy my Road King.

I like the visibility and the openness feeling the King offers, and the ability to remove the windshield is a plus.

We like to remove the windshield when cruising around at the beach.

Most of our trips are under 300 miles and the King is just fine for us.

For long distance touring I am sure an Ultra or the like would be much better, but for now I think the King is just perfect.

Now, let the mods begin. It's time to get your new King personalized.

I just bought my 2nd Ultra (11 Limited) and the more I think about it, the more I feel like the OP. I too take VERY few LONG rides (actually if I'm going far, I want a/c and a roof......lol) and am thinking my next bike will be something lighter/smaller.

My problem is, the wife loves to ride, and likes the support and comfy of the tour pack.

I like your thinking MR OP.

Have seen lots of Road Kings with a tour pack on them. The King can do it all. Congrats on your move up fzggm4! Now you can enjoy both the Highway and around town cruising!

Also, as far as pipes, I had a Pro Pipe (LOUD) on my 10 Ultra, went to Fuel Moto pipes and liked them.

Now, on my 11 LTD, I have tried a few different pipes, and prefer my stock pipes the best (quiet).

I think a nice, quiet RK is in my future as well!

I'm kinda feeling the same way. I bought an 11 Ultra Limited in January. I feel the bike is very cumbersome for me riding around town 2 up which is most of what I do. Most road trips under 200 miles. I really think I over bought for the kind of riding I do. I may go look at the RK. I think it may be more suited for my riding style.
