Can't be done detachable. Too many things swinging around in the nacelle. The bracket that holds the fairing on extends the front of the frame (technically) with the wire harness. When I did mine I cut the RK nacelle to take into concideration that swing. I still have the nacelle if anyone is interested.

Thanks Mark, wishful thinking to have a RK, SG, and RG all on one frame.

No you were correct the first time. The frames are all the same on the touring bikes. There is a bracket that bolts onto the TR models on the front of the frame to accept the fairing and the wire harness.

Heres a link to the american bagger article on doing it. It lists the HD Part # at the end to make it a bolt on install

I wanted to do the same thing with my 11 FLHR. Got to researching a bit. I didn't want any Quadzilla or anything else. I wanted a HD Road Glide Fairing on my Road King. Got with the dealer & with parts, labor, & everything, it came up to a little over $5,200. The radio alone is $1,000. I said to Hell with that. So I traded my 11 Road King in on a 12 Road Glide Custom. Sweet *** sweet!! I'd suggest doing the same.
