Anybody running one yet? I've got a 2610 Street pilot that still works great but map updates are no longer available. 220 looks to be a less expensive alternative to the 550 / 660 without some of the bells & whistles. Just looking for some real world end user info.

 

Old thread but did a search before posting and saw someone else asked the same question. I am looking to maybe upgrade my Nuvi 350 which is about 6 years old now. Heading to Sturgis this fall and am concerned it may not make the whole trip...lol. Not sure if I want to just get another cheaper car GPS, or spring for the more motorcycle designed Zumo.I have been using the Nuvi 350 on my bike for years now and completed about 4300 miles with it on a trip last year and would not travel without one for many reasons that have already proved themselves out to me. Yes, I have used the plastic baggy and/or waterproof Ram Mount box for my car GPS on the bike but it is a pain if you get caught in a sudden downpour hence my desire to at least consider the Zumo.

Sooooo has anyone used the Zumo 220 at all and what did you think of it ?

 

nuvi 500 and 550 are also waterproof,iv only used the zummo 450 so can't compare .

I've been using one since last summer and love it. Now use it in the car, motor home, and bike. Haven't had it in any real rain, yet. Like that it shows both the posted speed limit as well as my actual speed at the same time. I have three other Garmins and this is my favorite.

 

I have one and it works great, lots of features plus since it has only a 3.5 inch screen its a great size for a bike.....here is a thread I started for the mount I used, has a pic of it installed on the bike...

I've got one on my Ultra Limited and like it. I'm not a big power user when it comes to GPS but we've used it on a couple of trips and it did what I needed it to and the size is perfect.

I also have a Zumo 550 on another bike (big KTM enduro) and it has some added features the 220 doesn't that are great when planning detailed routes that include both off road and road sections. It allows importing tracks along with routes; to the best of my knowledge the 220 doesn't allow for that. It also has a totally different mount system that I use with a Touratech locking mount which adds a bit of security. I haven't yet bought the additonal mount for the 220 but probably should before some longer trips this year.

Overall for riding on road and as long as you don't want/need to import tracks you should be happy with it.

 

PMC its my understanding that the 220 can store up to 10 personalized trips/routes.

 

I have been using a Zumo 220 since before Christmas on a RK. It gets wet and has worked fine. I prefer the smaller screen as I often seem to need to ride in the dark. I don't preload trips as I generally know where I am going and I still use a map to plan most rides, but I will often load the motel or campground I am headed for at lunch. I use the digital readout screen most. I am happy with the unit but unhappy that Garmin made the interface so complex and slow.
