I wanna know how you get that sort of economy. I get 35-40 riding light and worst is 26!!

Also whats your rev limiter set to just out of interest?

The worst I ever have gotten is 35 mpg. Don't know what the rev limiter is set at, but I've not tried to go over 6800 rpm. 6800 is enough for touring and light to light drag racing when I feel like it. Haven't felt the need to find out what the limits are yet. It'll do 125+ no problem without coming close to 6800rpm, what more do I need. Additionally 6800 rpm was more than enough range to tackle the mountain twisties.

I will say that it rarely gets 50mpg. The fuel and roads have to be ideal for it to get that type of milage. 45mpg would be the norm though for average touring. Daily driven average MPG would be in the low 40s.

Great write up, very informative, I'm still leaning towards the 107 to do what I need for my scoot, but if HD does a 120R RG, I think that would be too hard to resist.

I believe the 107 and 103s are great for most people and budget friendly. The 120R is for those who know they want more than a 107 or 103 can give economically and is a less expensive alternative to some of the more radical big inch motor builds.

The 103s & 107s with 110+hp/tq were not enough for me; the 120R fit my budget and performance requirements.

Speaking of budget... If you don't mind me asking, how much was the 120R installed and tuned, etc. I'm lusting after one... but it will be a while before I take that plunge.

Easily done for under 7K and you possibly can recoup some of that if you are able to sell the 96".

This is the exact mileage economy I am getting out of my 120R crate setup. I am using a ThunderMax auto tune. I know you can lower the fuel GPM setting to get better gas mileage. I set my redline down to 6200. I hit red line before the lower reset once or twice, it gets up there pretty quick.

I have a 107 in my old Evo. I now know I could happily use more, but a 120R is not an option for pre-TC96 owners. A big billet would probably be fine.....
