The only negative to ownership I've read was finding a clutch that didn't kill their hand in traffic. Reliability appears to be atleast as good as a stock 96
if not better. I have yet to read of any failures such as scissoring, crank runout,
piston slap, overheating etc.

If I didn't have a bunch of payments to go on my 2010 I'd go for it.

you will need an air cleaner and a good 2-1 or 2-1-2 exh system.

Also if it was me I would pull the cams and go gear drive.

While I was there I would pull the lifters and fit S&S lifters. Those SE lifter rollers collapse every now and then and it aint pretty.

the only things I can think of are

oil cooler
injectors
tuner -SESPT or TTS and have someone that knows what they are doing tune the beast
dont forget the gaskets and fluids cause there is another couple hundred bucks
and if you dont have them already, hi flo a/c and exhaust. these things need to breath

Aw c'mon! Just use search for '120R' in Touring and you will find at least half a dozen threads about actual installations for this motor. The owners are all out riding the wheels off them. Just spare a thought for those of us who cannot fit one in our older bikes!

120R engine MSRP $5495 ~ Lake Shore $4,545
58 MM T/B MSRP $449.95 ~ Lake Shore $359.96
Compression release harness MSRP $ 49.95 ~ Lake Shore $39.96
SE Clutch discs MSRP $169.95 ~ Lake Shore $135.96
Clutch hub kit MSRP $249.95 ~ Lake Shore $ 199.96

So, again, what is missing from the list above?

Thanks,

Like noted by others, compensator comes with the engine. I used the SE clutch disks in my build and they are working good. As to the SE clutch hub kit, those that have used them find the pull extremely stiff. I went with the AIM variable pressure clutch top cover and an SE spring. It has been working very well and the lever pull isn't too extreme. The AIM VPC uses centrifugal force to add spring pressure as RPM increases. Cost for the VPC is in the $250 range?

Does the AIM clutch cover work with the stock clutch hub, or do you have to use the SE hub, SE spring, and then the AIM cover?

What injectors are needed for this motor?

I would want a tuner that reflashes the computer versus a piggy back deal. Seems with the piggy back deal....if it dies and you are in the middle of nowhere...you have problems.

The AIM setup goes on over the stock pressure plate (or you can upgrade to the AIM billet pressure plate if you want). I am using their stage III setup. Here is a link to AIM website: http://www.aim-tamachi.com/home.php?cat=18
As for injectors, mine is using V-Rod injectors but my build is using a Latus Motors Racing throttle body and manifold not the SE piece.
As for tuner, my bike has a SERT on it and works fine. I agree that I too prefer the reflash of the ecm vx. a piggyback unit.

Joe,
I don't know if you the same EPA-AQMD where you are at. But here in California we have the head pipe catatylitic that really impede flow. As much as I like my bike stock I am going to change a few things. The head pipe and I a really leaning to the throttle pak from vance hines. I am going to use that set up before any other changes.

Some type of exhaust and throttle pack and SERT JMHO

Take care John

From what I learned from my investigation, you are going to need a custom fitted set of ear plugs. For the 120R to perform, it is going to be loud. As I ride mostly touring the loud engine noise was not something I was willing to accept.
