Now if you really want to see a great difference, get rid of the compensator altogether and replace it with a solid sprocket. Eliminates all the the clanging and banging and the bikes does what you are asking it to do when you launch it, not when the comp sprocket gets around to it..... one of the best mods I have ever done to any bike in 40+ years.....

OK...thanks for the info. You're right...my '11 starts as smooth as silk...no banging.

What do you have for a sprocket?

My '08 was making more banging / clanging / and metal grinding
sounds than I care to remember on start ups....especially when
the motor was warm.

Changed to the SE compensator and all is good on start ups...

My 07 used to sound like someone whacked the primary with a 2x4 at startup.

The SE comp is needed for 07'-10' bikes to fix the banging and kickback on startups. Best mod you can do on these years. The MOCO is slow to respond to owner complaints and getting worse.

Default Price?

How much is the SE compensator? Is it something that one can easily do themselves? I have an 09 FLHT and while I don't mind the "bang" at startup, the kickback would be nice to get rid of.

thanks.

With a 20% savings ($237.00) I ordered my SE compensator (40274-08) from Chicago H-D.

I have to agree, I switched to a SE comp and still can't tell any difference 3000 miles later. Save your money unless you really need one.
