I have run these Python 3 1/2" slash cut mufflers on 2 of my bikes now. Loud when you get on it but not obnoxious while cruising and around town and not real expensive. Love them.

I'm running those too plus a Jackpot 2/1/2 header from Fuel Moto. Way better than that cat pipe! I agree they sound good.

I like the idea of only loud when twisting the throttle hard. What about tone? Is there something similar with a LOW, almost big block V8 tone when idling? Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread. I'm curious as well about different types of exhaust as I'm going to move up to the touring class this summer.

I have a new 2011 Street Glide and am looking for ideas and opinions on a set of after market pipes...
So, whatchoo got?
I got a new 2011 Road King last September and left the stock pipes on it until about a week ago. The primary reason I switched was I couldn't hear my own motor when ridding in a group and I also wanted just a little more juice when loaded down with two people on board.
I went with a Screaming Eagle high flow air cleaner, stock headers, Jackpot Dyno Tunned slip ons and a Vance & Hines Fuel Pak. Both the sound and performance are incredible for what I was looking for. It's not too much louder, but has a really nice low rumble. I told my wife it now sounds like a Harley!!!
The only thing I would ask is what are you looking for? ... performance... sound... milege ...looks. There's a lot of really good options to look at. Find people to ride with and see how their pipes are working for them. Take some time and do some research. You won't regret it...
