Opinions on pipes?

I like the idea of only loud when twisting the throttle hard. What about tone? Is there something similar with a LOW, almost big block V8 tone when idling? Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread. I'm curious as well about different types of exhaust as I'm going to move up to the touring class this summer.

To do it right, and let that engine "breathe", you may want to consider doing a Stage 1 and get rid of that catalytic converter. Once the cat. is gone you can put on any head pipe and muffler combo you like. Personally I went with the V&H Pro Pipe. Good sound and good performance for the money. Oh yeah, let's talk money (probably not what you want to talk about after just buying the new motorcycle and your budget is stretched...). Round numbers, you'll be looking at $1500 for a Stage 1, some kind of race tuner software, head pipe and slip-ons; and 3-4 hours dyno time. That number can vary depending on what you get. Anyway, if you don't get rid of that cat. the performance of your motorcycle and the sound of your pipes will never satisfy you.
