Warning: RideMaxx put me on the side of the road
I originally posted this on another forum and want to get it out to more folks.
Well, it finally bit me. I have been running a ridemaxx tuner for a couple of years now with no trouble at all and in fact really liked the tune, but two days ago, it put me on the side of the road. Fortunately I was close to home after a long day of riding and was able to walk to my house, get my truck and trailer and load up my bike. Yesterday I finally had a chance to troubleshoot and the first thing I did was remove the ridemaxx tuner and my scoot fired right up. From other posts you can find (and I started one of the first ones) it appears they are out of business and no contact information. Lesson learned, but I do want to encourage anyone who may be running it still, to be careful. My first hint that something may have been going bad was that for the past few weeks, and not everytime, my bike was slow in firing up. I chalked it up to hot weather here in MS and ethanol fuel, but it happened twice this past Friday and the final event was when I was slowing down to turn up the country road on which I live. My bike went dead and would not fire after that. You know the rest of the story. So again, if you are still using a ridemaxx tuner and your bike gets slow to fire, be careful.

What amp circuit breaker do you have? I have had similar problems with my bike and found out that there was a recall on the circuit breaker. What happens is the heat from the rear jug caused my circuit breaker to open and my whole bike shut off. It also had killed 3 power commanders before I found out about the circuit breaker problem from HD. Each time this happened, I could unplug the piggy-back from the ECU, plug the main plug back into the ECU and it would fire up each time. My original factory circuit breaker was a 40 amp,HD recalled these and now offers a 50 amp. My system is 48 amp..hmm go figure. Good luck.

good question. I have no idea what amp circuit breaker I have but I will check it out. This is the first I have heard of it, but I am fairly certain the ridemaxx was the culprit because of the issues with hard starting prior and also that the other electrical components still worked...like emergency flashers and headlights.
