Just found out today that I can engage the steering lock with the forks straight and then turn them and the forks will be locked. I always thought you had to have them turned before locking.
Also found out a few weeks ago that one FLH key will unlock the gas cap cover on any other FLH.
you can also loosen the nut on the back side of the gas cover lock ... rotate the lock 180 degrees and put the nut back on. you won't need a key or a push button ... to open just push at the bottom of the cover and the top will open
Yep! the old spring-loaded ball for the fork lock works. If it ain't broke, it don't need fixin'! disc brake locks have barrel keys and work for the gas cap too. Found that out when I bought a used one and the dealer couldn't find the keys.
That's why I said, F-it & bought one of the push button gas cap locks.
Yup. Thatsa whata I'm gonna do now. Didn't even consider one until I found this out. Now I figure what the hell. Why have to take my key out every time I fuel up.
If you pull the plug out of the end, a Bic pen will do the trick. Just push it in and give it a turn. It will work on more barrel type locks than it should (Like my gun locker, for instance). This was floating around the 'net a few years back, people bitchin' about the locks not keeping them as safe as they thought.

Yep .. I did that a long time ago .. got tired of have to get the key out to unlock the gas filler cover. Works easy now ... just push the button and you're ready to go.
