I haven't noticed any heat difference with a black pipe. Then again, the heat shields I have over my Jackpot headpipe are ceramic coated black too. But the Fatcat was no hotter than what I've got now.

I don't think there is a noticeable difference in black or chrome. when the exhaust heats it up there all hot.

I'm having trouble with the cosmetic angle of them, but I guess it's really about my experience on the bike rather than what it looks like to others when I ride by.

My question is: Does anyone have pics of their touring bike with black fat cats? I'd love to see some road kings, but any touring bike pics would be great.
I have to agree with your build guy!! I'm running the chrome pipe, but the pipe, sound, quality & numbers are there if the tune is there!!! It's hard to beat!!!

p.s. 92hp 109tq. Pipe is loud, it definitely has its own sound. Not classic rumble, more "racy" if that makes any sense. But, people are gonna hear you coming!

Default Black FatCat

Here is mine, its a modified quite baffle that has the ring inside removed. That made a huge difference on my torqe curve. No dip what so ever after we did that. I also had it ceramic coated a few months ago. This picture is after that was done.
