Default 2011 RoadGlide with 196 miles won't charge. Any advice?

Hey everyone,

I purchased a new 2011 Roadglide Ultra on Saturday. This afternoon my son and I climbed on the bike to head out and a few miles from the house the bike started to have a hesitation or surge while at steady cruising speed(probably once every 30 seconds to 2 minutes). I noticed on the dash that the volt meter is totally down to less than 8 volts. At idle the bike feels to have more than normal vibration.......would this likely be a stator/compensator? I know when my compensator went out on my '09 that it had alot of vibration at idle. Any quick ideas for things to check before I load it up and take it back to the dealer for repair?

Check you battery cables, make sure they are good and tight. Other then that I would make the dealer fix it.

yeah I have already checked that and all the fuses are still good. I'm charging the battery tonight and am going to ride it to the dealer in the morning. Just sucks having a new scoot that has something wrong.

Take it back. Get a refund. Ha ha !!!! if only it worked that way.
It probably is a battery cable (or something)

Good luck.

I'd ask for the setup fee to be returned to me. They obviously didn't check it out very good before they delivered it to you.

well I dropped it off this morning. Hopefully it will be a quick/easy fix. I was hoping to take it on a trip this weekend. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

You may just need the dealer to replace your battery. Wouldn't be the first time a new battery is bad out of the box...

could be. I don't have a way to check a battery at the house with a load tester. The voltage on it was fine. The dealer seemed to think maybe the bike wasn't properly grounded. I hope to hear something back this afternoon.

well the charging issue turned out that I'm a dumbass......I had the fairing off tying my GPS into the powersocket behind the fairing and apparently knocked the connection on the back of the voltage gauge when putting the fairing back on. The hesitation/vibration is throwing a code for a faulty o2 sensor. So hopefully it will get fixed tomorrow.

Anytime you see a problem like that, start checking with the last thing that you know about that was changed.
