Tell tale signs of cam chain issues
At highway speeds, my 05 EGC w/the 88" has developed a clicking-squeaking noise...that's in tune with the motor running. I don't hear it at slower speeds, i.e., 50mph or slower. The bike only has 25K miles. Am I hearing cam chain issues develop? Is this a don't ride that thing again until it's fixed issue? Have a reputable indie right around the corner. Thoughts?

They seem to be able to go out anywhere from 20K to 75K, not sure about the noise but I'd have them inspected, they can do a lot of damage when they fail. I got lucky when mine failed because I had a Feuling oil pump in it, but it scored the pump, others with a stock pump have had major engine damage. The SE kit includes an updated oil pump, no more 5# oil pressure at hot idle, that's what I upgraded to, it was a no brainer for me since I needed a new pump & I already had cams in it so gear drive made no sense for me. I'd ask your indy what he gets to pull the cam cover & inspect them, you can usually see the inner with a small dental mirror once the cover is off.
