Default throttle by wire grips

What is the difference between regular grips and throttle by wire grips? Every set of grips that I like will not work with the throttle by wire application.

The TBW grip has notches inside the end of the grip so that it can grasp the TBW switch.

The old ones don't have the notches. They also have holes for the throttle and idle cables (which are not found on TBW bikes obviously)

Right hand Grip for pre TBW bikes have ridges in them with two holes for the ferrules in which the idle/throttle cables reside. Right hand grip for TBW bikes have a cog in the bottom of the grip that meshes with the gear at the end of the throttle sensor.
