Rain X will make your shield yellow and brittle over time.

Clearview shields can take Rain X, most others can't. Double check before you use it, as it can possibly ruin a shield.

depends on ws type (poly or acrylic). read bottle warnings etc?

Probably depends on what your windshield is made of. Check with the manufacturer.

I have seen repeatedly that it is bad for most shields.
