+1 on Red Line and a linkage upgrade with heim joints. Made a world of difference in mine.

My '08 has been the most difficult to find neutral of the three HDs that I have owned. I can find it but there seems to be a very narrow band in which neutral exists, if you know what I mean.

This is a quote from the 2008 Touring Service Manual:

Do not overfill the primary chaincase with lubricant. Overfilling can cause rough clutch engagement, incomplete disengagement, clutch drag and/or difficulty in finding neutral at engine idle.
Something to check anyway.

The bike in question is a 2011 Street Glide.

I usually have better luck shifting up to neutral from first, than shifting down to neutral from second.

I don't have this problem with my 2007 Softail Custom.

Thanks

My Fatboy would get neutral from 1st or 2nd anytime. My 08 Ultra and this 11 have always been a pain in the ***. If I kill it in 1st then it goes right into N on the first try.

I changed to Heim joints on my linkage and that removed a lot of slop. One little bounce with my heel and it drops right into neutral. Then I drank the Redline "Pepto Bismol" coolaid thinking it would probably now go into neutral just by saying, "neutral", but, alas, it was not so. No difference with neutral or noise, just a dumb looking, really sticky oil to wipe up.

Finding neutral, 1st or 2nd gear is directly related to the adjustment on the Primary chain. At or tighter than spec., you will find a gear without looking. Middle of or looser than spec. and you can find neutral without looking.
