The rim and tire are stock '08 parts, so I believe its a 16x3" wheel and 130 series tire. I didn't feel like buying a new belt or opening the primary just to use the isolated drive pulley from the '08, so I bought a pulley from I believe an '03 to get the correct number of teeth and width for my '97......I still used the 25mm, bearings, axle and right side spacer from the '08, but had to use a left side spacer from an '07 to get everything to work with that fatass pulley. The guys in the parts department tell stories about my bike like it was a Johnny Cash song.

I think there are lots of pro's and con's to trading from a fairing'd bike to a RK (and the other way around). I hate the cliche', but it always comes down to is what you are going to be happy with. HD is run by the Devil himself and the fella' thrives on watching us try to figure out what to do. In a perfect world we should all be so lucky to afford one of each.

Here's my RKC...there's just no way my wife would let me trade it for another bike-

I went from a '06 Gold Wing trike to a '10 FLHR. I also have an '09 FXDC. My wife is very picky on which bike she sits on. She was in love with the Wing, so I had to do something very creative to get her to approve my Road King purchase.

I ended up spending less than $900 in achieving the queens favor. I installed a Mustang Super Tour seat, installed the 4 point docking, HD sissy bar and pad for her. Now she's very satisfied and won't even consider a CVO Tourer we tested out last month.

For my comfort I installed cruise, Soos floor board extenders, stock 20" wind shield, (came with short sport one).

I love riding without the shield till the love bugs come out, or after a night of rain and sand gets kicked up by cagers the next day and thrown on me while riding behind them.

The only time I miss my tunes is when I got a stupid tv jingle stuck in my mind.

I was all set to buy a new Street Glide until I took one out for a test ride, just didn't feel comfortable behind that batwing. Then started looking for a used RK, found my 07 for a very good price and the first day I had it I had to ride it 350 miles home, man that was a great ride, felt like I could have just kept riding. I prefer it without the shield but after riding down the interstate at 80mph 2 up with it on I can see the attraction. So if going to ride long distances on goes the shield, I can easily take it off when I get to my destination, you can't do that with a SG!

I started out on a RK after a couple of years I put a Dragonfly Fairing on it.
It never came back off, and I traded the bike in for a SG.

Thanks for that. I have a 150/80 tyre on my 'new' wheel, which the later narrow belt gives me plenty of room to get in, although it is a very snug fit inside the fender! I have a round spoke wheel, which I painted black and is out of sight, so doesn't show.
