Garmin 665 with the "hockey puck" XM receiver. I have the "hockey puck" sitting on top of the radio inside the fairing (magnetic mount). The 665 is connected to the AUX port to get the XM (and MP3's) into the sound system. It works great.

I use the XM Onyx. I have a handle bar clamp and just plug the power into the cigarette lighter. Right now I have the antenna stuck to the ignition switch. I am going to try and mount inside the fairing and see what happens.

Garmin 665 with hockey puck antenna. wired directly to 400 watt amp. No Harley radio, just xm and mp3 oh and the sexy voice giving directions. Works great.

The easiest and cleanest (not the most inexpensive) way is to get the XM module from H-D. It attaches to the head unit inside of the fairing and works thru the faceplate and hand controls.

I opted for a $45 Sirius Stratus 6 radio that isn't mounted yet. Right now it is in the left glove box, so that it is accessible while traveling. I will likely mount it to the top of the compartment lid using an eCaddy.
Photo below... not a pretty sight.

I mounted my Starmate 5 on the handlebars using a CB microphone mount to hold the docking port.

I put the signal in the HK radio antenna and wired the power inside the fairing to the cigarette lighter.
Antenna mounted to the top of the radio.

Ultra89, did you get an antenna with a much shorter cable? Mine is like 20'.

I'd like the convenience of a bar mount, but don't want the wires tie-wrapped to my internally wired bars.

So, you don't use the aux port for sound? You using one of those FM-direct kits? Does it work well? Have to change channels on the HK when traveling?

Guitar4Him, are you using the Navigation Integration Module with your 665?
