OK, went to dealership this weekend, my parts guy was able to separate out the windshield from the gasket and get just gasket. About $40, will post part number and actual cost when it comes in and I have a receipt. Probably will not be in before I leave for Laconia, but waiting for me on my return.

So all you guys running without a gasket, and dont seem to have any issues. Have you looked to see if the w/s is taking the paint off the fairing?

It's not rubbing the paint off where I can see it with the windshield mounted. It might be rubbing under the shield, but who cares. You can't see it.

OK, to be clear the stock HD windshield has black paint on the back of the w/s, near the bottom (visually probably to make it look shorter). The top of the inner fairing has rubber bumpers for the windshield to rest on, but due to vibrations they rub the paint off of the w/s. After some miles you see this ghost strip in the paint through the w/s (again paint on w/s not fairing). Gasket would eliminate bumpers and hopefully give me a larger surface that will not produce this mark.

Could always try the silkscreen repair kit under service bulletin M1212 regarding the FLTR windshields. The kit is #57651-07 and the instruction sheet for that part is J04368
