Speedo bouncing, bikes dies, radio quiet
Any help on the following issue would be greatly appreciated:
I was riding my bike up to a friends this morning when my speedo needle caught my eye. It was all the way to zero and then shot up to my correct speed. Did this a couple times. Every time it "died", the volume on my radio went down. As I exited the highway, the bike died. It restarted fine and stayed running as long as I gave it some throttle at stop lights. I checked my fuses, everything is fine. No check engine light on and everything else is working correctly. Any suggestions?

What year is you bike? I have been experiencing stalls, and having to rev it to keep it running, (for me it only seems to happen when it's hot outside) but my speedo is not acting like yours. It was suggested to clean the IAC (Idle Air Control). I just cleaned mine with some carb cleaner, will know if it did the trick in a little while (after my ride today)
Take off your air filter, it is at the 12 o'clock position. I sprayed mine and a lot of black gunk came out. I sprayed it until I got a clean and clear flow. worth a try any way.

Speed sensor. You can pull and clean, and it may be fine for a short while. You will wind up replacing it though! Better to do it now at home , than hoping a dealer will have one in stock while on the road.
The sensor controls the speedo, turn signal cancel, radio volume (speed variable), and will tend to cause idle to drop a couple hundred rpm's hence the stalling effect sometimes.

What I found out also was I had some cracked and loose wires in and around my gooseneck area. Bike would die (worst case) or my speedo would die(least case).
Open up your wireing harness cover and check for loose connections, etc. .
Found out later it was a commen occurance for Dressers around those years, 98-2005
