Speedo bouncing, bikes dies, radio quiet

It's on the right side of the bike on top of the trans, has a small allen bolt holding it in. Remove the bolt & rotate it back & forth slightly as you're pulling up on it to remove it, it's a magnetic sensor that's triggered by the teeth in the trans. Being magnetic it picks up steel particles from the trans, as said earlier you can usually clean it off & get it to work again for a little while, but I'd get one on order if that fixes the problem, they usually don't last for long after you clean them, I know.

It's located in the transmission. Look on the right side for a black oblong plastic held down with one Allen bolt. Remove bolt and twist as you pull up. There is an o-ring on the sensor that tends to stick so the twist can break that free. Check the bottom of thei sensor and if it has metal fillings on it you maybe able to clean the sensor and get it to work.
I would first check the battery connections as I had this happen to my 03 RK. Turned out to be a louse negative connection. Tightened the 10mm screw down and fixed the issue.
If you do end up replacing the speed sensor you will need to pull the battery to get at the connector for the sensor so checking the + and - connections is the easy first step.

Always check the simple things first. I've seen the exact thing happen more than once. Once on my bike 3 or 4 times on others. Its always been the battery cable connection. Even if the cables seem tight on the battery, remove them, clean and re install. Add some dielectric grease to prevent this from happening again.
