Default Weather Alerts

Was out last weekend and got caught in all the bad weather in the mid-US. If you guys don't have the weather alert active on your bikes, do it! It saved us by hearing the alerts as they were issued and avoided all the bad weather. In the case of last weekend in Illinois, with the tornadoes and hail in may have been a life saver. And our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers in MO and OK

Definitely is nice having the WX band on my scoot. Give it a listen every now & then when it looks threatening in my direction of travel. Yes, thoughts & prayers to the families affected by this spring's terrible storm season.

I had to break down and upgrade my cell phone..The old one was so old it had a rotary dial instead of a keypad. So anyhow I am learning about apps for my droid and have installed Weatherbug with radar..Pretty cool..

I listened to it this morning while leaving with very dark clouds and it said "cloudy" for all the areas I was heading to but it still rained on me for about 35 min? kinda sucked but just kept on riding anyways.

Yeah, the weather band is a good thing to have. Today, my GF and I rode from Minneapolis to Prescott, WI, hoping to go another 50 miles east. But, clouds were building so we stopped at the local watering hole. They had a radar channel on, and it was looking nasty so we rode south to the NautiHog bar. Had a cocktail and no more than five minutes later, they sound the frickin' tornado sirens. So, we jump on the bikes and head further south to get to Red Wing, Mn.

Suffice it to say, we were fine, but having a weather band is the best thing so that you can make some educated decisions about whether to ride, and if so, in which direction.

Be safe!

here's another cool one to have it covers the USA, it gives out bad weather and flood info. http://kamala.cod.edu/svr/
