I adjusted the cold and warm idle and I just want to be sure the result is correct: when I start the bike cold, it immediately goes up to 1300 and then very quickly reduces to 1250 and stays there for about 15-20 seconds before dropping to about 1150/1100 and that is where it stays. I let it idle for a minute or two before taking off. While out riding, and when the bike is warm, it idles pretty steady at 1000. How does this sound?

Yeah thats pretty close. Ive got mine set to idle around 1000 to 1100 and cold idle is around 1300 to 1400. My cold idle was a bitch to get set....i finally got it close enough and called it good. I would set it......pull the ECM fuse.....start it up a while later and its way low or way high.

 

Mine starts at 1200 for a minute or two then drops to 900 to 950.
