Guess I'm just dense, what is the problem with running an open element in the rain? Water is going to get into your filter even if you ride with the football. Water from the air, road, passing cars, and etc. Has anybody ever noticed how much water get thrown up by the front wheel?

If it's raining so hard that it drowns the bike you shouldn't be riding anyway.

Looks are ok, but where you going to hide when it rains? Open elements died out long ago because they are not rain friendly, but you will figure that out first good rainstorm you run into.
I have an open element on my Road Star, and have ridden it in pouring rain, and it's never had a problem. And yeah, it was pouring.
