I'm now running this Outlaw 1/2 helmet with a pull-down visor that I purchased for under $60 from LeatherUp. It's DOT approved and is well built at a cheap price.

I also have a GMAX 3/4 and a Vega full-face for cold mornings. I prefer the 1/2 helmet on all but the coldest days. It's well made, better than the GMAX or the Vega (at least that's my opinion). I also can see much better out of the 3/4 and 1/2 helmets that a full-face.

I was warned in my area that certain insurance companies will not cover your bike (in VA atleast) if you are in an accident and not wearing a DOT approved helment.

The visor fits pretty close to the face, but other than that it's pretty cool. (and it's removable so you can wear shades or sunglasses or whatever you like.)

I have a skid-lid for a half-helmet. Pretty bare-bones, but it does the job I guess.
Ordered one too with the transitional visor, guess they'll send it when they get ready but how does the visor work? Does it get pretty dark?

Yeah I got in on the initial order...they sold out fast.

The visor gets very dark, don't need sunglasses at all.

I have a shoei full face and a skid lid. the shoei kills my neck after about a hour, that being said If I could find a decent helmet that is as comfy as the lid. I'd wear it.
I like the English Davida .Cost $315.00
The skid lid saved my head from a nasty place on my head once. since then I rarely ride with out it.

As far as half helmets go, I have one of the hd hybrids helmets and found it to be well worth the money. Very light and very comfortable and doesn't give me the feeling it is getting sucked off my head when going down the road like most other half helmets do.

I know it's a bit pricey compared to a lot of helmets out there but I bought the new hd hybrid and this helmet is about as lightweight as your gonna get in a DOT helmet.

Amen.I dont often wear a helmet but when I ride in the socialist states I wear one too. Small to pack and light to wear. The cook loves hers too.
