Default Highway Peg mounting - NEED HELP!

I purchased Billet Engine Guard Footpeg Mounting Kit P/N: 50957-02B. It came with some spring washers that are apparently P/N: 50912-72. I am unable to place my Streamliner pegs into the mounts with the spring washers. Is there a trick to this? Are the spring washers even necessary? This shouldn't be this difficult.

The instructions are here: http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J02458.pdf

Thanks,
mikebaby

Just have to work 'em in. If you don't use the spring washers, the pegs won't have any tension on them. Just my experience.....

I finally got them in, but they were really REALLY tight. So I took them back out and added some grease, and forced them back in again.

Thanks for the help guys!
