Default Changes over the years

It has been a while since I've posted so let me first say hey. My next question is about the Road Glide. The Shark nose isn't for everyone and I understand that but what changes has it gone through over the years since the TC Engine graced the frame. I'm looking into purchasing an older model but I want to know what I may be getiting into.

I know the bagger brace will go on anything '09 and below and the 2-1 exhaust in a no-no for me. So other than that please inform me. Thanks guys. I know from history this is the best place for information.

some say there is a difference between the older frames and '09+ ones. i never rode an older road glide but the 10 rgc i have rides smooth & straight as an arrow to me. the fairing angle is different on the '10 & newer so the lowers can be used. the stock seats & windshield suck especially if you are taller - 5'10" or taller. windvest & cee baily's seem to be the most popular for comfort. do a search for mean city for the seat adjustment. personally i switched to an '11 cvo street glide seat and it works great for me. when it gets to the point i need a new one i will send it to mean city. make sure to get a front fork air baffle & air deflectors - 2 different things. make sure there is air in the rear shocks. found that out the hard way. '10 and newer have cats in the exhaust, although i wouldn't sweat the exhaust thing. most people change that out right off the bat anyways. also do a search for road glide forums. there is a site dedicated to road glides and that is prob the best spot for information about this particular bike. thats about it all i can think off off the top of my head. mostly it's all about personal tastes & comfort like any other hd.

I can tell you some of the changes from 06 to 11 include seat, engine, engine color, shock height (FLTRX), of coarse the frame, size of tank, way outer fairing mounts to inner fairing (11 has two mounting tabs that makes life easier), and 11 also has 3 models, 09 had 2, and other small changes.

Thanks for the info on the newer models. I had an '09 FLHX so I know about the shocks, frame, and cats. Did not know about the fairing angle change. I'm mostly interested in the older (TC88) RG. The budget will only allow for one with some miles. Keep the info coming.

99 to 02 TC's had a hot forged crank and a Timken lefty bearing for additional crank support.
03 was switched to a still "decent" cold forged crank but HD dropped the Timken lefty bearing.
07 and up has a cheaper cast crank and still no Lefty Timken bearing but interestingly, that bearing is now offered as a Performance Upgrade in the 2011 Parts / Accessories book for " increased durability." Some scissoring issues have been reported in the 4.38" 'stroker' motors.

Don't overlook the only Road Glide with the EVO motor, 1998. None of those Twinkie problems.
