all,
Just returned from a week touring through the southern U.S. and am still recovering from the ride...I am AMAZED at how harsh the ride was at times.
Are the stock shocks really that bad, or is there something basic that I missing? I picked up one of the H-D Touring Suspension Air Pumps and it showed that the pressure was low @ 10 lbs., so I upped it to 20 at the recommendation of the dealer. Still, the ride was pretty rough.
thanks for any feedback,
JA

Stock air shocks pretty much suck. That's why a lot of us change them out. Unfortunately, good shocks are not cheap. A set of Progressives will run $400-500. And if you want the best (Ohlins) it'll set you back $800-900.
I've already changed both the front and rear shocks on my 09 Street Glide. It's like riding a completely different bike. It rides and handles much better than stock. It's a shame when you pay $20k for a bike and it doesn't come with descent shocks.
