Default What critical fasteners were loose?

Just did me 10K service on my 2010 SG. I was curious, what "critical fasteners" if any have you found loose on your ride. I did find that the bolts holding the exhaust bracket to the trans were loose causing a oil leak on mine.

That exhaust bracket bolt is a PITA. Knock on wood since I replaced my exhaust the 2nd time, It hasn't leaked since. Don't recall if I loctited it or not?

MY local dealership BH-HD says that those 2 bolts come loose all the time.
You have to pull off that center heat shield to get to them too.
However one of the wrenches there says that he has a speciality tool that will tighten them up w/out removing the heat shield. I'm gonna have to see that tool I think.

I had a leak from them also. I think I used a long ball allen to reach them. Its been a while so I'm not sure. I know I didn't remove heat shields or exhaust.

One of the first things I did was pull the lower fairings and then the engine guard to have it powder coated black.

Both the lower engine guard bolts we little more than hand tight at 50 miles on the clock.

If you happen to find out what that specialty tool is, could you post that information? I removed the heat shields and was able to get a modified Allen wrench on the bolts, but I couldn't really torque them down. I just check them every now and then. Thanks.

Same here, I tried that too. I also cut down a regular allen wrench to fit. Can't remember which one worked best. You are limited on how tight you can get them this way, but it has been two years and so far no leak.

Myself and MANY here had the bolts holding the saddle bags come loose. One of mine fell lout completely and the other was dangling loose. Neither were Loc-Tited. I'm referring to the bolts that hold the metal bracket that the saddle bag twist pins screw into.

You bet!!
It is a KAS 5530 (out of Drag Specialities book) and it is an intake manifold wrench, which looked more like a real skinny ratchet that held the allen head that comes with it.
I ordered one today in fact through my dealer. It is $47.95, but using it one time w/out taking off the heat shield would be worth it IMO. All the wrenches have it and use it at BHHD. I was shown today how slick it works.. Very cool tool.
