For sure.
Some dealers will ask for that stuff and some wont.

So I shouldn't worry if my Oil check "Cold" is at the full mark? How do I know if its too full? I'm not getting any oil from Air filter. At hot temp, it is at full mark, doesn't seem to be up the neck of the dipstick as I would assume. But I can say this was not the case when I checked the oil from factory, (NEW) before the 1000 service. The Oil check "cold" was midway up the dipstick. Just as it states in the manual.

Yes I know, that's why I was so upset with the dealer. All 4 of my Harley's show higher on the stick when the motor is hot. Just like you said, I always wait about 2 or 3 minutes before I check the level on a hot motor.

I posted earlier in the 2010 year about the '10 Heritage using a quart of oil every 800-1k miles. Service manager said it was common---I callled bullshit.
Well after 4 trips before the 5k service I go in with an attiude. I demanded a new motor and to watch it being installed. I left the dealer on a new rkc just to get me out the door. Salesman said they sold the Heritage three week later to another sap. That makes for good business and the rkc has not see the inside of the dealership after I left with it.

i had the dealer do the 1000 mile on both new bikes i have gotten. i did my 5000 myself on my previous one though. i too feel the first service is a critical one. as stated earlier, get a dealer you have a relationship with to do your service work. that way if a problem is noticed, it will be no problem being fixed.
