Changing the face of the stock cover is what I would reccomend. There are all sorts of inserts for the stock cover from Harley and other suppliers.

That's what I did. I happen to like the shape and look of the stock air cleaner, and I like the way it looks with the SE backing plate -- open in the back. You can look at my sig and guess what insert I'm using on the stock air cleaner.

This one is H-D's Smooth Cover. PN: 29153-07.
There is also the 'Nostalgic Bar & Shield' round cover.

I put the Willie G insert on a bare cleaner. I like the look.

Here's mine, forget what HD calls it. You can get different "medallions" for the round center hole cover. I need to get the HD #1 cover or something else to replace the "103" because it's a "107" now. You can get a matching horn cover that's about half the size of the air cleaner cover.

Thanks everyone, I might look for an insert! I should've mentioned I do have a SE backplate - I have an S&S big bore so I'd like one of theirs but they all seem to be for carbed bikes.

S&S does make an air filter kit for FI bikes that looks and performs just as the old S&S Supers did. 17-0450 is the part #
