[\QUOTE] Straying from my topic a bit here, what else does one have to get used to besides weight, and does it take a long time? I could enjoy the smoothness of an RG ride as opposed to a Softail.[/QUOTE]
You will have to get used to people pointing at your goofy looking bike,
laughing and making crude comments......
Some will talk behind your back, and even cross to the other side
of the street if they see you in time !!!!
Buy that Road Glide cause its the Right Glide, and enjoy your
new found freedom.........

Well I'm only 5"1', yes that short, and I transitioned from a lowered softail standard to a " Cadillac Cruising" Streetglide with the Reach Seat and I will never go back. Comfort, style, tunes.... A couple of rides on the new bike, and I am more than happy with my choice. Parking lots and backing are a lil tedious for me, but I dang sure love the ride!

Guess what? I ride a Softail, so I'm used to the "Sloptail" comments.

i'll give you the cones. i have a hard time with those on a bike with a windshield. not because of target fixation, but because sometimes it's hard to tell where they actually want you to go. i think they tried to lay out a course that needed 80 cones only using 40....
i don't have a lot of personal experience with a softail, but i can tell you that i love my rg. i have short legs so i went with the danny grey speed cradle solo, 11.25 inch shocks from bitchin baggers, and i did rotate the handlebars back towards me about an inch. lots of folks change out the stock bars for the heritage style bars.
once the shark bites a hold of you, it doesn't let go. 2 years ago, i hated the road glide. positively thought it was the ugliest bike hd had ever made. enter the road glide custom in denim black. ''hmmm, that looks interesting....'' next thing i know, the wife is telling me to 'get off the pot and buy the damn thing!'

You are one heck of a salesman, that's for sure! You make me feel that I'm missing out by not being eaten by this killer fish!!!

I went from a SuperGlide to the Road Glide Ultra and have not looked back. Yes it is heavier but that is only when I am backing it up or turning it in the garage. It took me about 5 minutes to feel comfortable on it. The second day I had the bike out on twisties and heavy in-town traffic to see how it would handle. It felt right at home and did all I asked it to do. As for seat height, I am only 5'8" and have no problems. You really need to go test ride one. I suggest renting one for a day.
