I heard the rear 407's has had some cupping, never heard of dealer doing anything about the rear 407.. That is great for the dealer to do it... I got over 25,000 miles on my 2010 Limited rear tire.. I now have the American Elite on both wheels.. So far I'm happy. Dunlop claims big mileage for these also... Time will tell...

Yes, I keep close tabs on tire pressure.. I got 32,000 on front 408.. It's mind boggleing to get that much on rear tire on a Dressor.. If I hadn't seen it it would be hard to believe...

Thats excellent! Ive heard of similar stories here on the forums but have never witnessed it first hand. Maybe I ride more aggressively... It seems I need to replace mine about every 10- 12 thousand. A friend I ride with gets about 15k out of a rear 407. We ride in the twisties a lot on rough chip and seal highways. I think one member here had over 50k on a 407. That might be possible on a straight, smooth highway I guess...

Here in Florida alot of highway miles, some twisties. I'm a more relaxed 59 yr. old rider. Love to ride to the Mountains in Tennessee.. 10 - 12 thousand on the 407 - 408 would expect more, or like you say you are a aggressive rider... 50k on the 407 ? I might have to see that one..

Here are the mileages I attained on my '09 Road Glide using the Factory Dunlop 407R.
15,000 miles on the first.
18,000 miles on the second.
10,000 miles so far on the third. I have much tread left.
I am getting much better mileage out of these Factory tires than any ones I have had on earlier models.

I have a new one stored away in the shed with a new front for when I need them. I paid under $100 each after searches. So the $75 is a bargain.
Go for it.

How come a dealer is selling these tires at such a cheap price? Looks like they want to get rid of inventory. Why don't they offer them to their local customers? I'd still pass. Just my 2 cents
I would say by what the OP said "Gateway HD in St. Louis had 9 of these in a rack a couple of days ago.". they are being offered to their local customers.

Default D407

I am surprised to here all the trouble with the Dunlop D407 180/65B16 tire. I have a 2009 ultra classic and have had great success with D407 180/65B16. I have put 25,000 miles on two sets of tires. My H-D dealer could not believe it. I had no cupping and had even wear.

American Elite by Dunlop now makes a 16" WW and I just ordered a set. Same load as the original factory ones but has a different thread design.

I took my stock 407 (front) and turned it backwards and ran it for 30k.
Basically all Harley did with the 408.

407 Rears, never had a problem with. Run those for around 19K.
