Default Going thru oil

Have a 2005 ultra classic only has 17,000 and I am going thru 1 qt of oil ever 1500 miles or so. No smoke out the pipes, small amt of oil in in air cleaner. Pulled the plug some build up on plugs.

Any ideas??

05's are known for valve seal issues. Do a search on here I'm sure you will find some good reading. just 1 of the many.

Yep, as stated "valve-itis" Needs the valve seals updated to the newer style. There's a bulletin showing the difference between the green and the orange one.

Valve guide seals. Mine was on the rear cylinder only and that was the only one I replaced seals on several thousand miles ago. If you have deposit build up on both plugs, then you have the problem on both cylinders.

Warm it up the rev it up pretty high in neutral and you will see the smoke coming pouring out of the pipes.

A buddy has an 05 with the same issue. Started showing up at around 12K. So far it's not real bad. Just replaces the offending plug every so often.

The other suggestions are probably a more accurate fix but I too was going through a quart to a quart and a half between oil changes when I was still running dino. Since I switched to Amsoil I have zero oil loss.
