I'm 28 and have been riding a touring bike for the last three years. I have found out why it typically is the older guys who have the touring bikes, they know how comfortable they are and they can afford them. Most of my friends if they ride have not even worked their way up to a Harley yet and the few that have sportsters or softails. I say who cares the old guys know whats up and they know what works.
And I have to agree with the rest---Fack'em all that say it's a grampa bike.
You can't beat the comfort level and with all the goodies...it's a WIN WIN!!!
37 here. Bought my first touring, 2008 Goldwing, when I was 34. I'm tired of hearing the "Old Geezer" touring bike remarks. That's BS. Riders who ride touring bikes ride them for comfort and convenience. I find most touring riders are either iron butt riders, riders who like to ride a lot and need the space to carry their stuff around, or more likely than not, a combination of both, which is me - riding out to Colorado from Florida, and back, this summer. That's my take anyway.
