Found my top end noise!

valve noise
Wondering if you could elaborate on the top end noise you refer to. I looked into your past posts and wondering if you could be more specific. I just finished a 103 build with head work and my head sounds like the valves need to be adjusted like solid lifters with too much clearance. I know they are hydraulic, I'm just using that as a description. I asked the tech to listen to it during the dyno run and road ride and he said it is normal......hmmm. I don't think so but I haven't ridden another bike so I don't have a comparason. It starts around the 2200 rpm range and continues as the rpm increases. Things get too loud after that.
Hope you will offer your input.
thanks

Well after chasing top end noise for the last year and even having two dealers look at I had come to the conclusion it was normal. But no, in my case it was not. The machinist doing my head work found the problem. A guide had seized to the rear exhaust valve. The guide was riding up and down with the valve. There goes another 150.00 bucks. The strange thing was is I had the first dealer check the bike because I thought I dropped a valve coming out of the mountains. They said nothing wrong with this motor. Second dealer same, same. I'll listen to what my ears tell me from now on. If they are telling me there is a problem there probably is.
