Cool Seat and color advice buying a Road King

I am looking to buy a Road King, after a 1200 Sportster for 1,5 years (really my wife's bike, I am 6'6 and not comfortable).

Have found a 2003 RK Classic 100th Ann. which will need a new paint job.

1. Being 6'6 and looking for a 2-up seat with passenger back rest, what's my best seat choice for the most leg room?

2. What is the coolest (standard) color options for the RC? Being Dutch, I've thought about getting metallic orange, but that's a bit of a gamble. Any suggestions, pictures?

2009: 2004 Sportster 1200
2011: ???? Road King ???

If you're going to repaint, why limit yourself to the Harley palette? I'd go for a custom look if I was buying paint. Then you can sit back with some of that wonderful brew you have there and know there isn't another one like it on the continent!

I had a Mustang Super Solo on my King and loved it. You could add a nice pillion for doing 2-up riding.

Thanks for the reply. Thing is that the bike is at the dealer currently, dismantled and ready to ship to their paint shop. If I decide to buy it, I can choose the color - probably not a custom paint-job though.....

I like the Pearl Olive/Vivid Black combination, looks like an army bike.

The wife and I like the Harley Sun Ray seat we're using, all-day comfort and the heat is great on cool days.

Flame blue and pewter pearl!!

Why does the bike need paint? Has it been neglected?

I would insist on something custom, as pargenz said, get some flames on the thing. It will go much faster.

Of course, black is the classic Harley color, and the low coefficient of drag in that color makes the bike faster.

The Mustang solo with detachable passenger seat might be a good choice for you.

You're looking at a '03, mine is a RK Standard '03 and black does look good even as I have seen and love the silver over black '03 schemes. Quite a versatile bike for mods.

Lots of options, the stealers can still get the OE striping if you wish to keep it, there are some available after market but limited. I went with the simple Mustang seat set, larger passenger pillion to standard solo.

Recently did what you are going to do... traded my Sporty in for an '04 Road King Classic. Paint is what first caught my eye... I have "glacier white" with black hard leather bags. Real classy look. As for seat, I liked the stock seat but had to change to Sundowner pillow top for wife's comfort. It's 17" wide for the rider, 16" wide for the passenger.
