Default Help with 08' docking hardware part #'s

Ready to pull the trigger on purchasing the quick detach docking hardware for my 08' Ultra Classic.

Unfortunately, the longer i look at the big book the less clear i am on the correct parts and numbers.

Can I get some confirmation on the parts needed and their part numbers please???

1. Fender docking kit? (1st necessary half)
2. Trunk docking kit? (2nd necessary half)

- Not worried about antennas.

Secondly, I just bought a used Danny Gray solo close seat. Looks like it won't leave a ton of room under it when mounted, for all the wires I need to store.
Anyone use this seat and know if the wires will fit under?

* note: when HD says "For 09 models and "later"... Ugh! does the "later" mean 10' 11' etc....? or "older years?"

Thanks for any help, I hope to figure these parts out and get the darn thing ordered already.

If you keep that book in your library (bathroom) like I do you will soon get it figured out. And yes, Later means that year and newer.

I just put a kit on my 07. Should be the same as your 08.
The 53303-07 comes with everything you need. It includes the antenna mount which really isn't that bad. I already had a shorty so it worked out well.
Have fun getting the bolts lined up.

Thanks Steve...but you used the word "should"...as in maybe not? LOL
I've yet to see anyplace that offered "both halves" in one part number. That sounds too easy, where did you find that?

Thanks!

Yes the 53303-07 kit will work. It includes the 53804-06 docking kit which is the one used for two up tour paks. If you look Ultrakla$$ic's write up about making his ultra tour pak detachable it will show you some good tips on how to make the connections, etc. Here's the instruction sheet for that kit: http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J03930.pdf

Steve and Dawg,
Thanks for the info BUT, here I go again....lol I googled the part number, and what i found below suggests 53803-06 "does not" come with the kit.
So i need 53303-07 AND 53803-06 ?????

Also Dawg, do you konw how i can find that PDF you spoke of?

first off, are you looking to make the tourpak detachable for the solo or two up? it makes a difference on the parts that you are gonna need.

and what seat are you talking about? danny gray doesn't have a 'close solo' but corbin does. and if it is a corbin, i can tell you from personal experience, that the solo tourpak rack will not fit with that seat.

that part will allow you to add a detachable sissy bar for use when you aren't using the tourpak. if you aren't wanting to add a sissy bar/backrest pad, then you don't need this.

I'm looking to do the "two-up" when tour pack is on.
When it isn't on, I slip on the Danny Grey solo seat....with no intent right now on a pillion or sissy bar.
Ok, so, sounds like i have no need for the 2nd kit that allows for the backrest. Think i got it now.
Thanks!

All you need is the 53303-07 and yes it will work on your 08 per the 2011 P&A Book.
The kit has everything you need. There's also a thread here on all your wires up with disconnects if you lkie that option.
