Nice write-up and congratulations on a successful project. And I agree that Hogtunes offers excellent value with a nice variety of products and excellent customer service.

Suggestion: Add Polyfill to the glove box enclosures for improved sound. It's a poly fiber product available at craft stores for about $3. I used it when I had the HT fairing lower 5.25" speaker kit on my bike. Here are some examples of the product:

The polyfil breaks up the "back wave" in the enclosure similar to the way Dynaxorb works:

http://www.dynamat.com/products_car_audio_dynaxorb.html

I recently asked the guy who writes the website "Basic Car Audio Electronics" if Polyfill and Dynaxorb type products actually work in this type application and he replied that it does indeed.

Since installing the 2011 CVO Street Glide speaker boxes in the vented lowers on my bike I haven't added the Polyfill. I was more interested in seeing if the boxes fit, did they actually make for better sound while riding, etc. Now that I'm satisfied that the CVO speaker boxes and speakers in the lowers actually work very well (with an amp) and provide significantly improved sound while riding, I'll be adding the Polyfill.

Again, nice write-up and project. Thanks for sharing.

A note about the lack of Bass Thump. There really isn't that much real bass coming out of the 70s style rock and roll that I listen too, so maybe my description isn't completely valid. I did try a bunch of different songs and the ones that did have good bass sounded much better than the old 5.25" speakers. There is a definite difference with the 7" speakers. You also have to figure in the additional power of the new amp. Another thing I did was to crank up the volume all the way and try a bunch of songs and see if I could get some rattle or ugly distortion. I could find none. I am very happy with the results. The process was a bit more difficult than it really needed to be. I hope Hogtunes modifies their instructions.
