Default 2010 FLHTCU Header pipes

If I replace the header pipes with ones that don't have cats do I have to do a remap?
Replaced mufflers with Screamin Eagle slip ons but didn't improve sound much. Am thinking that if I do away with the cats the mufflers will be better!! Am I dreaming?

Yes and Yes.

Removing the CAT will improve sound and reduce heat on your 2010. I would also do a high flow A/C and fuel management at the same time. You don't have to re-map for just slip-ons, but any other upgrades yes.

Removing the CATs will add significant snarl to your exhaust note.

if you have se 65115-10 slipons you can replace the baffles with the supertrapp se series baffles for 2010-2011 bikes and improve the sound a great deal. I did that and still have cats and they sound very good nice deep rumble.

I might skip the SE's and go straight to the Supertrapps.....

Think they give the same sound as the setup you have mtclassic?

I added slip-ons and gutted the cat, no air cleaner, no fuel management. Bike runs noticebly better than stock.

yes, that would be the wise thing as far as $ was concerned. they would sound identical as other then having se eagle vs supertrapp engraved on the muffler body there would be no difference. If I had not already bought the se mufflers for a good price i would have went that way.

Default Gutting the Cat

I just saw on here I believe last week where someone had pics and detailed steps on how they gutted the cat. It was very interesting and looked great. They sort of cut a door into the headpipe, lifted it up, and cut the crap out of the inside. That way you won't compromise the length of the headpipe and everything will fit okay, I've heard some guys were having trouble reinstalling after gutting theirs. Just search the forums...you should be able to find it. If I hadn't already purchased a headpipe, I know someone who is a great machinist and welder who could have pulled that operation off. Good Luck. Jr.
