Oh rats! I upgraded my 07 to a 103" over the winter to get some better performance and pulling power. Had I read this post before, I could have saved a lot of money and just adjusted my riding style.
The question I have - did he stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

Darn! My Sportster tachs out at 125 mph. XR1200 Sportster that is.

I do cruise at 1500 rpm on all three of my TC96 bikes. And they will pull hills that come up with no trouble. Never had one past 80 though.

Illinois just pasted new fine levels that put 30 over at $1,500 and $2,500 with a possibility of a year in jail for 40 over. State roads in Illinois are posted 55. So, going just 85 could be big money.

Anyone want to buy a Viper and some Corvette's??????

just tested yesterday and yes at 1500 rpm in 6th running 43mph smooth as silk nice low rumble, give her a little gas and no problem runs right up--now i always short shift usally(always) below 2000rpm and bike pulls great and sounds like a harley should--as for the speed thing i ran her up to 108 and bike was very unstable a little wheel wobble so this time i backed off i think my pressure must be low in my shocks because when i ran her last time to 115 she was more stable--SO THERE YOU GO!!!

Ride your bike however you want to and enjoy!

Those who have to have loud exhaust noise and run at high rpms can't hear or appreciate the other side of the fence.

I ride a stock bike and enjoy every minute of it. I run in 6th gear at 60+ mph and have no problem accelerating when I want to.

1500 in pretty much any gear besides first is lugging the bike.
