Default Zumo 665 & HD GPS Interface Mod.

Does any know if the Non-Branded Zumo 665 will work with the HD GPS interface?? I am sure it will charge it and stuff but can you hear it thru your speakers??

Here is the HD interface @ HD website:

I can tell you that NO, it will not work with the interface. Everything else will work fine, but you will not hear it thru your speakers. It has to be an RT Zumo and not just a Zumo.

Hope this helps.

One more thing, this is also the reason when people post on here about the GPS, I actually hate seeing that most refer to the unit as a Zumo, when they actually own the RT Zumo, since they actually have different firmware running them. I always feel that someone will buy the Zumo, by accident, instead of the RT Zumo. I actually called Garmin and spoke with them ( I am sure to no avail) because of this. I mean if you have GPS's with basically the exact same nomenclature, I think that is asking for problems. For instance you have the Zumo 660 or the RT Zumo 660, etc.

Granted none of this matters, unless you expect to hear the directions with your interface.

Copyless is correct. It must be the HD branded version of the 660 or 665 to work with the interface due to the different firmware that is required.

Keep in mind also that the interface, as I understand it, only interrupts the radio/CD to allow GPS directions to be heard. If you want to listen to MP3's or XM through the GPS, you still have to have the wire running to the auxiliary in plug and have the radio set to auxiliary.

Default Zumo RT - GPS

Morris - you are so correct and I think that is the most out of line thing Harley could have done.

Who wants to pay all this money for a GPS and interface only to have t orun a line to the aux. I have an install done to put a plug in the back of my adio - this solves that problem
